ARABIC PARTS IN NATAL WORK

Intro and rationale for the arabic parts
An astrological chart is like a web. A web in which many meanings are interwoven with each other. My interest in Arabic parts began as I witnessed the immense information and connections they present us, which we cannot derive directly from evaluating planets, signs and houses alone. It is important to mention in the first instance, that arabic parts are only secondary in the interpretation. They do not represent the causes or major planetary principles, however we can utilize them in assesing the details.
When we talk about a part, this is a product of three prime causes. The planets are prime causes. For example Venus is love, desire, attraction and the feminine principle, the Sun is vitality, command and creativity. An Arabic part is not a
prime cause or principle but it consists of interactions between these prime causes giving us special details concerning the major themes in the chart. We can give categories for each house, for each department of life. We could view the parts as midpoints between these prime causes. Nowadays, the most well known of these parts, is the Part of Fortune.
The modern interpretation of this point, is that it is the optimum point from which you can utilize your solar, commanding, active side and your lunar, emotional and passive side, in reference from your point of view which is ascending degree.
In theory, each house has its own arabic parts, for example, when we consider the 2nd house of material benefits, we can also derive part of substance, or pars substantiae in Latin which indicates the maintanence of life and comfort. Or for the 3rd house, we can derive part of reason and sense, or Pars rationis and sensus, or for the 9th house we can talk about part of travel, part of wisdom or if it is the 8th house, we can derive the part of death, pars mortis.
When assessing any part, its angularity, its house and sign position and the condition of its lord are of prime importance. We can also add major aspects in the interpretation of the parts.
In this article I have provided a brief summary of some of the Parts and their equations; and have attempted to demonstrate their unique value in obtaining specific detailed information through the charts of various current and historial public figures.
PART OF FATHER: PARS PATRIS
In classical terms, the Sun and Saturn are the significators of the father. Sun being the solar principle and Saturn an authoritarian figure. Sun is also significator of the father in a day chart, and Saturn in the night chart. The formula for Part of Father is:
Day chart: Asc + Saturn – Sun, Night chart: Reverse
We move from the Saturn to Sun and project from ascending degree.
George W. Bush
We can apply this formula to the chart of G. W. Bush, whose father is a prominent figure in his life. Being a day chart, we calculate the part of the father at 19 50 in Leo in the first house. Being angular it is more emphasized, its being in the sign Leo futher emphasizes a strong solar principle.

In classical terms, the 4th house denotes the Father and its ruler gives the conditions of the Father. In our case, the testimony of a strong father is clearly evident.
Another significant aspect of this part is that it is in trine with the south node, and nodes always show fateful conditions. The trine aspect indicates that it is a effortless relationship which harmoniously exists without any problem,
it also indicates a karmic connection in which the father strongly supports the child.
Furthermore, it is not only in conjunct with Venus but also in sextile aspect with Jupiter which is the greater benefic, Jupiter is also the ruler of his south node! This is an incredible configuration in which Bush receives very powerful
beneficial support from his father.
PART OF FORTUNE: PARS FORTUNA
In the simpliest terms Part of Fortune, is a point where we get material benefits in the form of money, riches and good luck.
George W. Bush
In the natal chart of Bush, it is posited in the 4th house in the sign of Scorpio. Again we witness the 4th house so there will be material benefit from the father and Scorpio indicates that it may well be related with oil, earthly resources.
The lord of the fortuna is Mars and Mars sextiles this part. This type of configuration puts always greater emphsize on the power of the part. If the lord of any part, is in aspect to that part (especially conjunction and soft aspects), it
increases the opportunities arising from the subject part.
In our case, Mars is also in the 2nd house and with a sextile emphasize, thus we may conclude that as Mars is also the prime significator of the War, the recent Iraqi war itself might have greatly enabled such a material gain. in Scorpio adds the importance of intelligence and shrewdness.
Ted Turner
In Ted Turner’s chart we see the Part of Fortune in Scorpio and the 11th house, and it is connected with Uranus, being the significator of TV and electronic media. It is also again in conjunction with the North node and its lord, Mars in Libra
though lacking dignity here it’s angular and mutual reception with Venus, and the fortuna is in the 11th house and this house always indicates money gained from profession, from the 10th house.
Hugh Hefner
As another example for part of Fortune, we can see the chart of Hugh Hefner, owner of the Playboy magazine. Here we see the fortune in the 11th house again in the sign of Leo, it is conjunct with Neptune the planet of fantasy. Looking at the lord of the part, the Sun in this case, it is just on the cusp of the 8th house, the house of scorpio, the sign of sex. And the sun happily trines to the fortune. Furthermore, Jupiter in the 5th house of pleasure is also in partile opposition to it.
PART OF WISDOM: PARS SAPIENTIAE
According to Albumassar, Part of wisdom and patience: signifies stability, philosophy, profundity in things and close attention to speech and proxility of cogitations. The native will be rational, wise, patient, profound in mind, a top
expert or investigator of profound things, and swift in discovering all things discoverable. Jupiter and Saturn are used here as they are the prime representations of deeper intellect, wisdom and patience.
The formula for Part of Wisdom: Day Chart: Mercury + Jupiter - Saturn
Albert Einstein
For Albert Einstein the part of wisdom and patience is at 26 degrees of Aquarius in the 9th house. It is not angular but it is in its own house and most strikingly, closely conjuncts with Jupiter! And it is in the sign of Aquarius. A perfect
descriptive symbol for Einstein, a man who reshaped the history of science and universal thinking. He was not merely a scientist in his laboratory but he had firm belief in god clearly indicated by this 9th house part.
PART OF SUBSTANCE: PARS SUBSTANTIAE
This part belongs to the 2nd house of material support and indicates funding, maintenance of life, profit and other things which are used for physical sustenance.
The formula of this part is the same for the day and the night chart and is:
Part of Substance: Asc + 2nd house cusp-2nd house ruler
Albert Einstein
In our example it is at 11 Cancer + 28 degree of Cancer – 14 degrees of Sagitarrius which gives us 25 degrees of Aquarius which is on the Jupiter exactly.
PART OF REASON AND SENSE: PARS RATIONIS AND SENSUS
This part signifies sense and reason, science and imagination, understanding and speech.
The formula is as follows: Day Chart: Asc+Mars-Mercury Night Charts: Reverse
Albert Einstein
The part of reason and sense when calculated for Einstein, gives 5 degrees of Taurus and this degree is in conjunction with Neptune and Chiron. Which planet could describe so closely of Einstein’s relativity theory which dramatically transformed our perception of time and energy ? Its Neptune here gives abundance of imagination and also certain religious or spritual understanding merging intellect with belief.
Adolf Hitler
His part of reason and sense is at 17 degrees of Scorpio which is in a close opposition to Venus and Mars in Taurus. As Mars is the lord of this part in this case, it’s opposition and lack of dignity in Taurus reflects destructive powers of
imagination and wild speech.
In Hitler’s chart this part also is in square relation with the PART OF RELIGION, which is calcluated by the formula:
Asc + Mercury – Moon for the day charts and the reverse for the night charts
His part of religion is at 15 degrees of Aquarius whose lord Saturn is in the sign of Leo forming a close t-square and also has no dignity there. We could assume that such a pattern with undignified malefics related with his religious or fanatical
behaviours and speech makes a perfect example of how we can make sentences with the arabic parts.
Leonardo DaVinci
In Da Vinci’s chart, part of reason and sense is at 0 degree of Aquarius and is in partil trine to Neptune which is posited in the 10th house.
Madonna
In Madonna’s chart part of reason and sense conjoins with Mars demonstrating her forceful and combative style of expressing ideas.
PART OF EXALTATION: PARS NOBILITATIS
According to the ancients, this part belongs to the 10th house and shows the honor and elevation and also kingdom and victory. This part is derived from the exaltation degrees of the luminaries.
So foruma for Part of Exaltation is: Day charts: Asc + 19 degree of Aries – Sun
Night charts: Asc + 3 degrees of Taurus – Moon
Ancients say that if this part falls in a good place, such as the 1st, 11th or 10th house, and is with benefic planets, the native will attain honor, nobility, advancement and riches with good reputation.
George W. Bush
It’s quite interesting that in G. W. Bush’s chart this part falls in the 10th house in Taurus and it is at 12 degrees just opposing the fortuna. Earlier, we noticed that fortuna signified the good material fortune from the father. Here again,
Bush’s exaltation is seen closely related with the father’s fortune. It’s ruler, being in Taurus, is Venus and it’s presence in the sign of Leo in the ascendant further emphasizes the father.
Bill Clinton
In Bill Clinton’s chart, this part falls in Taurus but this time in the 8th house. Its ruler Venus is in Libra and angular in the first house but, due to its placement in the 8th house, his reptutation has been dangered by 8th matters of passion
and sex.
Arnold Schwarzenegger
In the chart of Arnold Schwarzenegger, part of exaltation falls in the 5th house of drama and it is in the sign of Scorpio,a sign related with power. Furthermore, its exactly on Jupiter, a benefic planet.
It’s quite interesting that there is another part, symbolizing Mars, PART OF MARS, in Arnold Schwarzeneggers’ chart it is also in the same degree with that part. Such a configuration shows strong presence of Mars and its use in the entertainment as a 5th house matter.
Adolf Hitler
Adolf Hitlers’ part of exaltation falls in the 12th house of sorrows and catastrophes and it ruler Venus is conjunct with Mars, a naturally malefic planet and squared by Saturn the greater malefic.
Bill Gates
Bill Gates’ part of exalt is at 13 degrees of Leo and in the second house of money. Its also closely opposing to the fortuna in the 8th house, all this shows the material riches and investments in which the nobility is gained.
PART OF DEATH AND PATH OF INTERVENING PLANET
Part of Death can partially give explanations on the causes of death. It can also give information about the setting in which killer energies enters the chart. Part of intervening planet can also give hints to what kind of planetary energy could be responsible for the death. For example, if this part is in Scorpio, we need to look at the position of Mars and its relation with that part.
The formula of the part of death is: Asc + 8th – Moon for both day and night charts
The formula of the part of intervening planet is: Asc + Moon – the ruler of Asc and the reverse for the night charts
Princess Diana
In Princess Diana’s chart, part of death is at 23 degree of Taurus in the 5th house of love and closely conjunct with Venus. We could assume that in a way, the death stems from the love relationship which she was in. It is also in square aspect to Uranus showing the sudden nature of the end of her life.
The part of intervening planet is at 8 degrees of Capricorn which is also in opposition to the Sun, which is the sure sign of kingdom and Capricorn gives us Saturn which is in trine aspect to the part of death and Venus again.
John F. Kennedy
In JFK chart, part of death is at 20 degrees of Gemini just on the 9th house cusp and he was assasinated while he was on a trip and part of intervening planet is at 20 degrees of Capricorn, this part is also exact trine to Mercury. Mercury here
signifies the speech and the saturn in the tenth shows that he was killed in public.
James Dean
In the chart of James Dean, the part of death is at 14 degrees of Leo and the part of intervening planet is 16 degrees of Leo, both on the cusp of 9th house, and the lord of this part, the Sun is also conjoining with the cusp of 3rd house which indicates the short trips.
